Bricklayer licences in WA

You don’t need a licence to undertake work as a bricklayer in WA if employed by a registered builder.

If you wish to contract with others on building work valued over $20,000, you’ll need to register as a builder.

How to become a bricklayer in WA

You do not have to undertake an apprenticeship, but it is desirable amongst employers. Bricklayer apprenticeships typically take 4 years and are a nationally recognised qualification.

You can undertake an apprenticeship if you’re a school graduate, re-entering the workforce, or looking to change careers. Apprenticeships or traineeships are available for young people who are still at school.
